Hi everyone! Here's the information you've all been patiently waiting for. Auditions give us the opportunity to evaluate and select young musicians to join our teams and are required for new and existing team members. No appointment needed. You may audition at church on any of the dates/times listed in the attached flier. Your audition will have 3 possible outcomes. You will be invited to join the Youth Service Team, join the Youth Practice Team, or you will be given the opportunity to try again at our next audition event. Please choose 1 or more from the list below and send your audition selection(s) to me at WOL_YouthPraiseTeam@cox.net. I will send you audition music and other information specific to your selection(s). · Vocals · Keyboards (provided) · Acoustic guitar · Electric guitar · Bass guitar · Drums (provided: electric Yamaha that includes snare, 3 toms, kick, hi-hat, ride and 2 crash symbols) · Sound Mixers/Technicians (parents with musical “ears” are also eligible :-) ) What happens at the audition? Auditions are very informal. I’ll help you through it. Just relax and have fun! Can I bring someone with me? Absolutely! These are “open auditions” so bring your family and friends. What happens after my audition? I will call you within 3 days of your audition to give you the results. What’s the difference between the Youth Service Team and the Youth Practice Team? Youth Service Team is the “performance” team. They will soon lead contemporary services at WOL on a regular, scheduled basis and perform occasionally at various WOL events. Youth Practice Team gains the important experience of playing with others which is very different than practicing alone. Members will have the opportunity to try-out for the Youth Service Team at future team audition events. When do we rehearse? Youth Service Team rehearses weekly on Saturdays: · Instrumentalists & Sound Mixers/Technicians from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm · Vocalists join us at 5:00 pm and end at 6:00 pm Youth Practice Team participates in a sectional rehearsal 1 Sunday per month, from noon – 1:30 pm What am I committing too? · Practice your music a minimum of 10 minutes every day · Attend all rehearsals and scheduled services (and provide advance notice, if possible, when you know you're not going to be able to attend) · Keep your grades at acceptable levels as determined by your parent or guardian I look forward to seeing all of you!
Blessings, Mike |
