Father's Day - Pastor Larry Borgelt

Updated: Aug 6

“Father's Day”

“OUR HEAVENLY FATHER”!

Based on the 1st Article of the Creed

“I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.”

Genesis 1:1 says,

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

2 Peter 3:13 reminds us,

“But according to His promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.”

“I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears and all my members, my reason and all my senses, and still takes care of them.”

Acts 17:26, 27 says,

“And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him.”

Matthew 6:26 says,

“Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

Ecclesiastes 11:5 says,

“As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.”

Genesis 1:27 says,

“So God created man in His image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

I Corinthians 6:19, 20 says,

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

He also gives us clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and home, wife and children, land, animals and all we have. He richly and daily provides us with all that we need to support this body and life.

Acts 17:27, 28 says,

“God is actually not far from each one of us, for ‘In Him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed His offspring.’

Matthew 5:45 says,

“For He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

He defends us against all danger and guards and protects us from all evil.

Psalm 121:2, 7 says,

“My help comes from the Lord, who make heaven and earth. The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life.”

Paul reminds us in Romans 8:28

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good.”

The prophet Isaiah tells us in Isaiah 55:8, 9

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

The psalmist says in Psalm 130:1, 2

“Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord! O Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy!”

Paul tells us in Romans 5:8

“God shows His love for us in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us.”

Paul once again tells in Romans 5:3-5

“We rejoice in our suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

All this He does out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me. For all this it is my duty to thank and praise, serve and obey Him.

Paul says to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:4-5

“For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.”

The psalmist says in Psalm 40:5

“You have multiplied, O Lord my God, Your wondrous deeds and our thoughts toward us; none can compare with You! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.”
