The Resurrection is Not a Hoax!
“If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile.”
(1 Cor. 15:17)
FIRST PROOF
There are non-biblical sources that confirm Jesus at least died.
1. Flavius Josephus,
a Jewish historian who lived in the first century.
2. Lee Strobel,
a former atheist.
SECOND PROOF
The news of Jesus’ resurrection spread too quickly to be a legend.
Matthew 27:53
“They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”
Acts 1:22
“….beginning from John’s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
Acts 17:18
“A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to debate with him (Peter). Some of them asked, ‘What is this babbler trying to say?’ Others remarked, ‘He seems to be advocating foreign gods.’ They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.”
THIRD PROOF
The tomb of Jesus was empty.
Matthew 28:12-15
“When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’ If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble. So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated……”
FOURTH PROOF
We have eyewitness accounts of people seeing Jesus alive after His death.
FIFTH PROOF
The earliest disciples died for their claim of a resurrected Jesus.
I Corinthians 15:12-14
“But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.”
1 Peter 1:3
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
