Let Jesus Speak For Himself

Part 3

“I Am The Light of the World”

Part 2

“Walking in the world, but not in darkness”

Words from the Video…

Every morning Light appears, swallowing the shadows of the night

There is a Light that no darkness can overcome.

It shines making everything visible.

If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to YOU; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to YOU.”

-Psalm 139:11,12

Same verse with notes from Pastor:

[Even] If I say, [Or think, Or feel like] “Surely the darkness will hide me [Overtake me, Depress me] and the light become night around me,” [The truth is that] even [Never-the-less, just because I SAY it or FEEL it doesn’t make it true] the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”

[Because Jesus is “The Light of the World”]

-Psalm 139:11,12

Regardless of how dark we may see the world to be these days…

We should focus on what God wants us to SEE, rather than what we are tempted to SAY.

Even though it is true that The world that we have to live in is a dark place, it is also true that we do NOT have to walk in darkness. Because…

Jesus, is the LIGHT and IS IN CONTROL, even though the world is a dark place.

“the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”

- John 8:12

We will HAVE to walk in the WORLD, but

We DON’T HAVE to walk in DARKNESS.

Competing Lights

Prince of Darkness

-John Milton's poem Paradise Lost

Let your light shine is seeing the Dark world through the eyes of Jesus (The Light of the world). Don’t see the world through your own eyes, which are blurred by:

Original Sin, Bad experiences, Negativity, Depression and Deception

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”

-Matthew 6:22,23

Sometimes we don’t SEE real good.

Sometimes we see dark when there is actually more light than we are seeing.

[Pessimists]

Sometimes we see light when there is actually a lot of darkness that we are not seeing.

[Unrealistic Optimists, or People in Denial]

In some of the darkest places of life,

The bright light of Jesus can shine brightest.

Q: How dark are your situations in life?

Q: Will you allow Jesus to shine bright?

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

- C.S. Lewis

From a Christian Worldview

“Let your light shine” is seeing the Dark world through the eyes of Jesus, the Light of the world.

Theologically speaking, let’s think of the human eye as the greatest telescope to see light in the darkness.

You are the light of the worldlet your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father [God] in heaven.”

- Matthew 5:14,16

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light …11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”

-Ephesians 5:8-11

A Summary of the Satanic Bible:

If you feel it and desire it, it must be good. Don’t let organized religion tell you it’s sin.

(It unfortunately reflects much of our culture today.)

God is light and in Him is no darkness at all… 7 walk in the light as He is in the light… the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from ALL sin.”

-1 John 1:5,7

Walking in the world, but not in darkness.

For Jesus is the Light of the World.
