Let Jesus Speak For Himself - Part 5

Let Jesus Speak For Himself

Part 5

"I am the door"

Jesus takes in the unwanted,

saves lives and brings hope.

John 10

“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the door/gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber… 3 The gatekeeper opens the door/gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. “4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” 6 Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them.

“Stranger Danger”

Stranger = Satan

Danger = Enticing us away from Jesus

(Trying to gain access to blessings through WRONG DOORS)

God says don’t wander into forbidden areas.

Conscience

Satan will tempt us with HIS answers to our common needs:

To belong

To be accepted

To be forgiven (when needed)

To be valued

To feel secure

To feel safe

(Physically, Emotionally, Relationally, etc)

The Occult

Magick

Fortune Telling

Spiritism

1.Magick “Sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire… Sorcery… engages in Witchcraft, or Casts spells.”

2.Fortune Telling “Divination, Interprets omens”

3.Spiritism “Medium or Spiritist or who Consults the dead.”

“… do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices [Magick] their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination [Fortune Telling] or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium [Spiritism] or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD… 13 You must be blameless [Make the effort to live pure] before the LORD your God...You must listen to him.” [Not your emotions which are susceptible to all temptations]

- Deuteronomy 18:9-15

Blameless in Morality

(Making the effort to live PURE)

Honesty

Integrity

Let God be your “Provider”

He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”

-Psalm 107:9

“The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.”

-Psalm 34:10

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.

-Psalm 84:11,12

“God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

-2 Corinthians 9:8

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

-Matthew 6:33

Back to John 10

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the door/gate for the sheep… 9 I am the door/gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for [us] the sheep.”

-John 10:1-11

Doors are a good thing to have.

(Gates, Fences, etc)

Purpose:

1. To let people in or out.

2. To keep people and unwanted things out.

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

-Revelation 3:20

Jesus wants everyone “In”

“This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people.”

-1 Timothy 3:5,6

The show "Let's Make A Deal" made the importance of picking the RIGHT DOOR famous

• Door #1

• Door #2

• Door #3

“Come to me, [Nowhere else. No other DOOR] all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

-Matthew 11:28-30
