Mother's Day

Q: Most famous mother in bible?

Mother Mary

(Luke 1:26+)

“God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth… to a virgin pledged to be married… The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel… said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” 34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit… and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Mothers may NOT feel…

highly favored

by anyone, much less God.

found favor with God

Highly “favored” is talking about

Purpose

Not Status or Position

All mothers have different positions/situations

Mothers have a very important “Purpose”

And that doesn’t mean a “comfortable” life.

A mothers very important “Purpose”…

To Carry Jesus…

To Deliver Jesus…

To Be Jesus…

But many mothers feel like they have failed.

Carrying Jesus

Delivering Jesus

Being Jesus

Guilt… Anger… Fear… Failure…Errors

Properly evaluate your mothering experiences.

Proper and Balanced

Q: Have you cared for yourself?

Evaluate yourself w/r to Phil 2:3-5

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus…” Jesus took care of himself.

-Philippians 2:3-5

Moms… Let God comfort you.

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.”

-Isaiah 66:13

Moms… Let God calm your fears.

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”

-Isaiah 41:10

“I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well… I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

-3 John 2,4

Trust God to help you to emotionally multi-task. “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”

-Romans 12:15

Regardless of “how” life is going moms, view every day as a “Good Day”

Because God will help you.

“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

(Ps. 118:24)

Moms… Allow God to forgive you.

“God is faithful… will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

-1 John 1:9

So if you are like most mothers…

Carrying

Guilt, Forgiveness

Anger, Acceptance

Fear, TRUST in the Father that has put HIS child in YOUR family.

Failure, Don’t believe the lie, No matter who is telling it to you.

Errors, Remember that God doesn’t make mistakes with HIS children.

God says to you…

“Thank you”

“Thank you very much”

Because God knows that you have put up with a lot.
