PRAYER SERIES

Part 8

“Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 Your kingdom come,

Your will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.”

Forgiveness Part 1

And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

- Matthew 6:12

The main point in the Bible is God’s Grace.

The result of that Grace is called Forgiveness.

NO CONDEMNATION!

John 3:16-18

“For God so loved the world

that He GAVE His one

and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not

perish but have eternal life.”

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is

not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

No matter what anyone says or thinks,

No matter what you say or think,

You are NOT Condemned.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

-Romans 8:1,2

“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do… 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!”

-Romans 7:15-25

DON’T CONDEMN YOURSELF

23 ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

-Romans 3:23,24

God offers forgiveness for ALL sins.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from ALL unrighteousness.”

-1 John 1:8,9

The Idiot’s Guide to

Sin in the Bible

The Idiot’s Experts Guide to

Sin in the Bible

BE AWARE OF WAYS THAT WE SIN.

KNOW THAT YOU ARE FORGIVEN.

Greek Words for sin mentioned in the Bible:

1. "Hamartia" = "To miss the mark"

"Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles."

- Hebrews 12:1

*Carelessness.

*Compromise.

*Busyness -

[can get in the way and make it easy to default to compromise.]

*Fear.

* Emotions.

* Insecurity.

*Bad habits getting the best of us.

*Lack of control.

*Flawed thinking (Human Logic vs God’s Word).

*Distractions.

*Pressure.

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

-Matthew 26:41

2. "Hettema" = "Diminishing what should have been given full measure".

“The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already.”

-1 Cor. 6:7

3. "Paraptoma" = "Falling when one should have stood".

This one is actually an unintentional slip.

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”

-Eph. 1:7

4. "Agnoeema" = "Ignorance when one should have known".

“Only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed

in ignorance.”

-Heb. 9:7

“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man,

“I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.”

-1 Timothy 1:12,13

5. "Parakoe" = "To refuse to hear and heed God's word".

“We will be ready to punish every act of disobedience ….”

-2 Corinthians 10:6

6. "Parabasis" = "To intentionally cross a line".

“We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away…

“… every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?”

-Hebrews 2:1-3

When we “Intentionally step over"

a line that God draws in the sand,

we can suffer great loss of rewards and blessings.

7. "Anomia" and "Paranomia" = "Lawlessness, or willfully breaking God's written rules".

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions…

… Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own,

eager to do what is good.”

-Titus 2:11-14

God has "rules" to bless us, not to curse us.

The Bible = The owner's manual for human beings.

SATAN AS LIAR & FALSE ACCUSER:

“… the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.”

-Rev. 12:10

“…the devil… was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

-John 8:44

NO CONDEMNATION!

The main point in the Bible is God’s Grace.

The result of that Grace is called Forgiveness.

so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

-Psalm 103:10-12

“Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”

-Psalm 32:1

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord.

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;

though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
