A Word about Divorce
Sometimes Adultery & Unfaithfulness breaks the bond of trust so deeply that divorce is permitted.
Sinful “Adulterous” Pharisees Test Jesus
“Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”
-Matthew 19:3
Jesus calls out the “Adulterous” Pharisees who were looking for a loophole to legitimize their lust
“I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” [Already existing in their hearts]
-Matthew 19:9
Jesus’ restriction is against a man divorcing his wife [Evicting her] in order to marry another. [Already in his plan]
A Simple Definition of Adultery
Acting like you are married to someone else when you are not.
Some Categories of Adultery
1. Physical Adultery
King David and Bathsheba

2. Mental Adultery [Thought life]
"Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

“Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.”
-Psalm 119:37
3. Emotional Adultery
Forming a deep emotional connection with someone else which takes the place of a spouse.
Emotional Adultery often includes
Excessive time spent
Secret conversations
Emotional intimacy
Online relationships
Inappropriate messaging
Secret accounts
People have a right to be JEALOUS when their spouse acts in a way where someone else takes their place.
4. Spiritual Adultery
Idolatry
Adultery
"You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God?"

“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything… you shall not bow down to them; for I, the Lord your God, am a JEALOUS God…”
-Exodus 20:4-5
When someone who shouldn’t takes your place does.
JEALOUSY
When someone legitimately takes your place that should not.
“Righteous” Jealousy
(Good, Healthy)
“Sinful” Jealousy
(Bad, Unhealthy)
5. Professional/Workplace Adultery
When a person forms unhealthy bonds with a colleague—flirting, spending excessive time together, or confiding in them more than their spouse.
6. Financial Adultery
Hiding money.
Making major money decisions alone.
Spending irresponsibly in a way that betrays trust.
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure…”
-Hebrews 13:4
“Treat younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.”
-1 Timothy 5:1-2

Let God Provide
Don’t take the bait of Satan’s false promises of fulfillment.
