EXODUS 10
28 Pharaoh said to Moses, “Get out of my sight! Make sure you do not appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die.” 29 “Just as you say,” Moses replied. “I will never appear before you again.” [Before leaving, Moses warns Pharoah w/r 10th Plague]
#10 Plague on the Firstborn
EXODUS 11
Now the Lord had said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. [It was actually one LAST plague] After that, he will let you go …2 Tell the people that men and women alike are to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold… 3 (The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people) 4 So Moses said, [to Pharoah before he left him for the last time, never to see him again] “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. 5 Every firstborn son [Male] in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave…
Note: God calls Israel
“my firstborn son.”
-Exodus 4:22
-God SAVES his firstborn son (Israel)
-Pharaoh could NOT SAVE his firstborn son.
-Since Pharaoh was thought a god, the son of god died for no good reason.
-God the Father’s only begotten Son, Jesus died for a good reason.
“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
- Romans 5:8
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed”… [Forgiven] “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. [“Cattle” = often refers broadly to herd or farm animals, cows, sheep, goats.] 6 There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again. 7 BUT among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.’ [Total peace with all Israelites] ie. doorbell & Nessie Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel. [Moses continues talking to Pharaoh before he leaves him forever, never seeing him again] 8 All these officials of yours [Pharaoh’s] will come to ME, bowing down before ME and saying, ‘Go, you and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will leave.” [Leave Egypt] Then Moses, hot with anger, left Pharaoh. [Never again to see him as Pharaoh angrily demanded]
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down [Have a biblical/Christian plan to deal with. Ie ] while you are still angry”…“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.”

Note when Jesus was hot with anger.
1. Cleansing Temple of secular business
(John 2:14–17)
“In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple court…”
2. Hard hearts of the Religious Leaders
who plotted to kill Jesus
“Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there 2 Some… were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath. [“Gotcha”] … 4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent. [The Hard-hearted leaders] 5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.”

Another example in (Matthew 23:13-39)
13 “Woe to you, [A warning that consequences are coming] teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! [Saying one thing, but doing another] You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
Moses was in a spiritual battle
Jesus was in a spiritual battle.
We are in a spiritual battle.
3. The Disciples hindering children
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant… [Anger at something unfair] “LET the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.”

Jesus wants us always to remember his Grace.
“Passover” Grace
Jesus is our Passover lamb.
“The next day John [John the Baptist] saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
— John 1:29
“Get rid of the old yeast, [Sin] so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. [Free from the bondage of sin] For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.”

EXODUS 12
Passover/Unleavened Bread
(Main Elements)
3 the tenth day of this month… take a lamb … [Hebrew = Lamb or Goat] 5 … year-old males without defect, … 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day …
[10th = Palm Sunday]
[14th = Thursday night/Passover]
slaughter them at twilight. 7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs… along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast… 11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked … sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste … I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you… 14 “This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come… 29 At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt…there was not a house [Family] without someone dead. 31 During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested. 32 Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me.” 33 The Egyptians urged the people to hurry and leave the country. “For otherwise,” they said, “we will all die!” … There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. 38 Many other people went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds…”
Grace spills over to others.
