Arizona Heat and God’s Promise

—Home Church Sermon— Some of you who are reading this are doing so

having just watered your garden,

or at least you remember the days when you did.

Even in Washington State, where rain is plentiful,

gardens need “you” to give special care

to make sure that they are getting

the right amount of

water.

We are the same way aren’t we?!

We need to be given special care and the right amount of water.

God promises to give us the special care needed to

make sure that we are getting just the right amounts

of water and nutrients for our soul.

I’ve chosen today’s message based on our

temperatures this week in Arizona.

Today, Sunday is supposed to be 116 degrees.

Isaiah 58 gives us the assurance that God does provide even in the 116 degree situations of life.

Let’s read it as we pray for God to guide us

and provide for us all that we need;

Spiritually, Physically, Emotionally, Psychologically,

Relationally and Financially.

“The Lord will guide you always;

he will satisfy your needs in

a sun-scorched land

and will strengthen your frame.

You will be like a well-watered garden,

like a spring whose waters never fail.”

-Isaiah 58:11

Let’s look at God’s promises by breaking down what this verse means.

“The Lord will guide you always;

[God never leaves you.]

He created you, and he will not leave you.

A large part of his “Not leaving” you is “Guiding” you.

And further more, he says that he will

“guide you always”.

“Always” means through every possible thing in life

as well as throughout those things.

“Through” and “throughout” are two different things.

That means in every area of life and throughout it,

seeing it through to the end.

He doesn’t just get you started and then leave you on your own to see it through to completion

by yourself.

That’s why I used the word “throughout”.

So, in every area of your life (through every possible thing), and throughout each of these things,

God promises that;

he will satisfy your needs in

a sun-scorched land [AZ]

[“sun-scorched land” means = unprotected]

We are not told exactly “what” satisfaction that God

will give, but we are told

“when” and “where” he will give it.

WHEN: When everything seems bleak, when we are

vulnerable, when you feel exposed.

It is in these times that he promises to

“Strengthen” your frame, which means to give you durability.

“and will strengthen your frame.”

[Even in the harshest of times when much may be

demanded of you, he will give you durability,

strength, patience, fortitude and character that you

did not think possible.]

“You will be like a well-watered garden,

like a spring whose waters never fail.”

-Isaiah 58:11

[Lastly, God promises the blessing of fresh, incoming

water brought for you (a very special part

of God’s beautiful garden.

The “spring” is a source of unfailing internal water

provided to you. like a fountain that continues to bubble.

This will restore you rebuild you into the best version

of yourself that you can be, which of course is

Knowing who you are in Christ” and then “Being

that person with the help of God.

Which part of your life needs more

watering right now?

God wants to meet you there.

With his word, his understanding, his grace,

his power, and with his guidance.

Let him.

Trust him.

Trust him again

(in those areas that you have given up on)

And watch for him to show you

Spiritually, Physically, Emotionally, Psychologically,

Relationally and Financially how he will provide.

He will “Satisfy your needs” with his blessings no

matter how “sun-scorched” you may feel.

God WILL come through for you throughout it all!

You WILL be strong and well-watered with HIS blessings to meet the day.

“The Lord WILL guide you always;

he will satisfy your needs in

a sun-scorched land

and will strengthen your frame.

You will be like a well-watered garden,

like a spring whose waters never fail.”

-Isaiah 58:11

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for promising me things that I need.

As you taught us to pray,

“Give us this day our daily bread.”

Give me, what you know that I need,

so that I will be strengthened and ever-growing

in my faith in you, and as a Christian example to others.

In Jesus’ name.

Amen!
