God is an “Uncommon” God.
God is unlike any person’s concept or view of him.
God is PERSONAL (Down to Earth) God.
And Jesus’ coming to earth proves it.
The Late Sam Walton in the mid 90’s was named as one of the richest men in America.
You’d never know it though!
He drove a pickup and lived like a regular person.
When asked why he didn’t drive a Rolls Royce he replied,
“Where would I put my dogs?”
He was successful at least in part because
he connected with the common person.
That’s why Jesus came as a man to earth.
He is God with us (Emmanuel).
He connects with, and can identify with common people.
He is an uncommon God.
Other religions do not define their God in that way.
Remember when the Disciples asked to see God,
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time?
Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father,
and that the Father is in me?
The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.
Rather, it is the Father, living in me,
who is doing his work.”
-John 14:8-10
Jesus is the exact representation of the Father.
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining
all things by his powerful word
-Hebrews 1:3
This gives new meaning to:
“Being Jesus to others doesn’t it?”
Whatever you do today,
Know that you are representing Jesus.
He lives in you and through you.
That means that He is having a positive impact on others through you.
Prayer:
Thank you Lord for using me to bless others.
Help me always to remember that fact,
And be “Jesus to others.”
