“Kindness - Part 1”
Our response to God's love
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
- John 13:34,35
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
-Matthew 5:7
Kindness often finds a place in the lists of Christian virtues
“Love is patient, love is kind.”
-1 Corinthians 13:4
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
-Ephesians 4:32
Be like Jesus to others.
There is always a need for kindness
“When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through… Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace…” be careful to devote… to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.”
–Titus 3:4-8
Whether you are the GIVER or the RECEIVER of Kindness,
it feels good.
Do unto others
31 Do to others as you would have them do to you… 33 If you do good [Kind] to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that… 35 But love your enemies, do good [Kind] to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
–Luke 6:31+
“God causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
–Matthew 5:45
The source of kindness is God
“The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”
-Psalm 145:9
The meaning of kindness is relative to each individual.
“Cruel to be Kind”
Hamlet
To be “cruel to be kind” is to cause someone
pain for his or her own good.
Kindness is the language that
the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
“Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness.”
-Romans 11:22
It may not always be as simple as doing good things.
Kindness should inspire, empower and relieve stress for others.
“As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.”
-Colossians 3:12
Be like Jesus to others.
It is in our best interest to be kind
“Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.”
-Proverbs 11:17
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
-Galatians 5:22
Kindness sometimes comes easy.
Kindness sometimes comes hard.
What makes someone truly kind is because
they keep choosing to be kind.
